High Soil pH and Plastic-Shed Lead to Iron Deficiency and Chlorosis of Citrus in Coastal Saline–Alkali Lands: A Field Study in Xiangshan County

Citrus are one of the most important fruit crops in world, and citrus hybrid cv. Beni-Madonna (BM) is widely cultivated Xiangshan County China because its profitability. In this study, soil status 62 orchards three diverse landforms (mountain, flat, coastal saline–alkali land) located has been investigated. Higher pH, calcium, magnesium content but lower organic matter, nitrogen, iron, boron were observed land compared with mountain flat lands. Compared x unshiu, another cultivar county, Fe deficiency fruits BM lands was more severe, leading chlorosis symptoms. addition, long-term cultivation under plastic housing increased salinization affected absorption other nutrients by BM. conclusion, fertilizers, acidic micronutrient fertilizers should be applied Especially, supplemented iron fertilizer not rely excessively on protection films.
